Here on my blog, it is time for a new beauty review. I feel like it has been such a long time since I sat down and reviewed an item, so we are certainly well overdue. As I am sure you can see from the image, today it is going to be all about the Dior Backstage Foundation. This item has been on the market for quite a few years. As much as I wanted to try it out when it was first released, I had to create some room.
I have a new rule when it comes to my makeup collection, one out, one in. There was a certain point when I had over 60 foundations open, I had to work through a backlog before investing in anymore. That been said, I have been using the Dior Backstage for some time and I am ready to review!
Why I wanted this foundation?
The main reason why I wanted to try this foundation is because I wanted to try and find an everyday foundation. I was over some of the more intense coverage foundations in my collection. Once seeing the makeup for the Royal Wedding with Meghan Markel and learning that this Dior Backstage Foundation is what she wore, I knew that I had to get my hands on it for myself. The only thing that put me off was that I didn’t know if it would be enough to hide some of the problem areas on my skin.
The shade range?
One thing that I do want to say about the shade range is that it works amazingly for me. I know that I have a medium skintone, so it isn’t always hard to find the right shade. However, for me to get the right undertone, that isn’t always easy. In general, I think that this Dior Backstage Foundation seemed to hit the ground running from when it was first released. I do think that there is unbalance between deep and light shades, obvious the latter has a broader range. However, it is a great range in comparison to some other high-end brands out there.
The packaging?
I know that when this Dior Backstage Foundation was first released, people were disappointed with the packaging. Some thought that it was too basic for a brand like Dior. However, I think that the thing to remember with this is that it isn’t just Dior brand, it is Dior Backstage. This foundation is intended for pro makeup artists and that tells you everything that you need to know. It isn’t made to look pretty, it is made to be functional and work like a dream for a professional kit. I am all for easy to use packaging and I love that about this foundation!
The coverage?
If you have been here since the early days of my blog, you will know that I used to adore full coverage. I didn’t see the point in foundation if it wasn’t 100% coverage that could hide everything on my skin. Things have changed now and if it is full coverage, it feels like mask. I would say that the coverage of this Dior Backstage Foundation is a true medium coverage foundation. Not only is it a medium coverage, it sits amazingly, has a beautiful glow to it and really does make my skin look out of this world.
The longevity?
One thing that I always shout about when it comes to a base product review is how long it lasts on the skin. I get ready for work around 6am in a morning and I need my skin to still look perfect at 10pm at night. That is a big ask for any foundation. However, I feel like this Dior Backstage Foundation just takes it fully in its stride. It has never broken up, looked patchy or anything else in that remit. I have also paired it with just about every primer, concealer and powder that I own. Always looks amazing!
Would I repurchase?
As I am sure you can already tell from this post, I adore this item. I am going to without a shadow of a doubt pick this up again. As with any foundation that I adore, I now have more than one shade of this. That means that year round, I can use this without having to alter the shade too much with other items. I talk about this constantly and I love using it. Not only that but I think that this has knocked my Nars Radiant Longwear Foundation from the top spot, and that is not easy!
