Like most people, a handbag is imperative to me. Each day when I head out of the house, especially if I am going to work, I carry with me a tote bag that normally holds everything that I could need, for just about every eventuality. When leaving the house this morning with my gargantuan bag, I thought that it may be a good time for a true throwback and share with you some of the items that I keep inside my bag. In todays post, I am going to share with you 10 of the must have things that I always carry with me inside my handbag.
Wallet.
Surely this one is just a given, but each day when I leave the house, I always need my wallet. To be honest, with Apple pay on iPhones these days, I probably don’t need to have it with me, but I can’t break that habit. I will admit that over the years, the wallet that I carry with me has gotten progressively smaller and these days it is simply a card holder and I love that. Simple, easy to use and slips inside any handbag.
Medication.
I love been ‘that’ person. You know the kind of person that I mean. If somebody has a sniffle, they come to me for tablets. If somebody has a headache, they know that I have the right pills. I want to be a caretaker for people, and I make sure that I always have a very well stocked medication pouch with everything inside that I could possibly need. Genuinely, I am like a walking pharmacy and I adore it.
iPad Pro.
I invested in an iPad Pro a couple of years ago and to be honest, I didn’t utilise it properly straight of the bat. However, with my full time job, this site, the freelance work that I do and the novels that I write, I need a digital tool such as my iPad. With this, I can make notes, have them sync up seamlessly and it means that I have everything in one place. No fuss is required with this item and for that reason, it has become a very expensive, but much loved daily essential in my handbag.
Makeup bag.
I am a makeup lover. Each day when I head into work, I like to look and feel my best. My makeup gives me confidence and for that reason, I will continue to wear it on a daily basis. But because of that, I need to carry a few things with me that can support my face throughout the day. The main thing being a little foundation stick and powder that I can touch my complexion up with and a few lip products. That is normally the extent of what I need and it makes my looks super quick.
Face wipes.
As I mentioned above, I wear makeup every single day when I leave the house, especially if I am going to work. I feel my best and most confident self when my face is painted to perfection. Over my ten years working in an office, I have had a makeup meltdown only twice due to emotions flooding from my eyes. Sometimes, it is easier to simply call it quits and remove makeup should I need to. Because of that, I like to keep a small pack of Simple wipes with me for an eventuality where it is best to remove my face.
Tech bag.
Because of how heavily I rely on different forms of tech, I like to carry with me a small bag that contains everything that I could possibly need. In here I have traditional wired earphones, charges, plugs, power banks and so much more. One handy little bag and I know that if that is in my handbag in a morning, I am good to go with everything that I could possibly need throughout the day.
Notepad and pen.
Even though I love tech in so many ways, I think that there is nothing better than putting paper to pen. Especially if you are a creative person, sometimes just dumping out the thoughts that are in your head onto paper can be so freeing. I can remember when I began writing my first novel, I would sit with papers all around me, covered in scribbles and it felt freeing. Nowadays, I need something small and easily portable to keep my head from becoming jumbled under the weight of my thoughts.
Air Pods
Need to zone out? Put earphones in. Feeling uncomfortable? Put earphones in. Need to focus? Put earphones in. No matter what, my default mode is to put my earphones in. Music has always brought me comfort, so I need the option to hear my own (good) music throughout the day if I need it. I can remember once working somewhere that didn’t have a radio and I almost shed a tear. Music makes the world go round and because of that, so does my earphones.
Deodorant and perfume.
I truly have an irrational fear of smelling bag. I think that comes from being around people with body cleanliness issues over the years and fearing that it could happen to me. The thought of somebody saying something behind my back about a negative smell keeps me up at night. For that reason, I carry more with me on a daily basis then I could ever need. I would rather assault somebodies nose with too much overpowering niceness, than badness!
Reusable cutlery.
This is possibly the strangest one that I am going to mention and that is why I saved it until last. As a globe, we are making more efforts to reduce plastic consumption and that includes plastic cutlery. So, say you head to the coast for the weekend, you will get your fish and chips with a wooden fork and I can’t handle that. The texture of wood upsets me, so I bought a travel size plastic knife, fork and spoon that I carry with me. It sits inside a cute little container and I am prepared for everything.
