My Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks

A couple of months ago, the brand Merit came to the UK. I had seen the brand online before and it had piqued my interest. I was desperate to get my hands on a few items, but at the time they didn’t ship to the UK and I didn’t fancy spending the best part of £60 on import duties.

However, as soon as I got an Instagram ad stating that they now ship to the UK, it was time to invest. The first order that I placed was enormous. I pretty much ordered one of everything on their website. However, the first product in my haul that I fell in love with was the Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks. Which is what I am going to be reviewing for you guys today.

Why I wanted these items.

There is an influencer on YouTube called Allana Davison. I am sure you guys will be familiar with her already. However, if you are hearing her name for the first time, be sure to check her out. I first discovered Merit the brand because of one of her videos. To begin with she was speaking about their lip oil, which I recently did a post on. From there, my obsession with the brand Merit gained momentum and I was left placing an enormous order on their site.

How I use these items.

I primarily use these Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks when I am strapped for time. I have four different shades of these. Two of the shades are near enough my natural skin colour, then I have a lighter shade to highlight and a deeper shade o contour. Because of the various shades I simply scribble my makeup where I need it, then I will take my It Cosmetics buffing brush and work it into the skin until it sits seamless. Because the product is so easy to work with, it takes me no time at all and I am left with a natural base. I have even applied these while in the car and nobody would have ever been able to tell the difference!

The consistency.

This is a creamy product and because of that I am loving applying it at the moment. These sticks glide onto the skin with incredible ease. Because of this I never feel any tugging or dragging on the skin. Which is incredibly important because you don’t want to create premature aging by moving the skin. Within my vast collection of beauty products, I have so many other creams, many of which are pretty hard to work with because of the coverage. However, with these Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks I don’t feel like I have to sacrifice the consistency for coverage.

The coverage.

Without a doubt, I would categorize these Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks as being a medium coverage. However, they are very easily blendable. I am generally happy with medium coverage all over, however I have an area on my cheeks where I do need a little more coverage. With these Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks I can go in and add a small amount of coverage just in the areas where I need it. By doing this and not having to go in with a secondary layer all over, it makes my base of feel much more light and breathable. Generally, this is a much lighter coverage than I am used to, but I love how it looks on the skin.

The longevity.

Once these Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks are applied to the skin and locked in place using powder, they do not move. I need my makeup to last me from 6am in a morning to 10pm at night and I feel like this does the job perfectly. Every now and again I have noticed that these can break up a little around my nose, but that isn’t abnormal for me. I have a pretty oily skin type and depending on weather and environment, I have noticed this even with some of my all-time favourite product’s. Because of this, I wouldn’t think twice about giving this my stamp of approval in terms of longevity.

How they compare.

I have a lot of cream makeup products in my collection. Over the past few years, creams have had a resurgence and the same goes for in my own makeup collection. For that reason, I have many different cream foundations, including some of my favourites. You will have heard me talk about the MAC Full Coverage, Hourglass Vanish and countless others numerous times. This Merit Perfection Complexion Sticks isn’t directly comparable to those. Mainly because the coverage isn’t on par. However, what makes these stand out products is how easy they are to use and master when you are on the move.
